Extensive interval training

The extensive interval training constitutes the intermittent variation of exertion and active recovery periods within a training unit. Characteristics of the extensive interval method are medium or large exertion periods within the basic endurance range or within the strength endurance range with the duration of the recovery periods being half as long as those of the exertion periods. It is important to note that the recovery periods must not result in full recovery. The Cyclus2 provides all features for efficient interval training and assures comfortable and user-friendly handling. The range of sinusoidal load schemes during which the intensity is gradually increased until a maximum is reached and subsequently gradually decreased is one of the highlights of the Cyclus2. With these load profiles being introduced for the first time with the Cyclus2 completely new training stimuli are created.

The program generator is a user tool for generating training routines according to the interval method. Training intervals with a certain number of repetitions can be comfortably configured using the entry mask of the program generator. The Cyclus2 features the setup of either sinusoidal loads (full sinus wave – recovery), constant loads (plateau – recovery) or hybrid loads (half wave-plateau-half wave-recovery).

Extensive interval training

During the training the values of the significant parameters are shown on the display. The chronological sequence of two additional parameters can be selected for graphic display, like the heart rate and cadence shown in the sample screenshot. A cursor shows the progression of the ergometry training in the ergometry preview window.

Extensive interval training

Once the training is completed it can be analysed directly on the ergometer. The functional progression and statistical evaluation of the complete interval training or of single training intervals respectively can be selected for displaying on the screen. If the compliance with the predefined training interval units is monitored through measurement of lactate values, then the latter can also be entered and charted. All analyses can be directly printed via a printer connected to the Cyclus2 or alternatively saved as PDF file.
