Track simulation

The life-like simulation of training- or tournament tracks owed to the elastic bike suspension is one of the outstanding features of the Cyclus2 ergometer. The latest state of the art hardware- and sensor-technology controls the brake force of the ergometer in such a realistic way that no difference to the real conditions on the road is noticeable. In contrast to other ergometers the Cyclus2 exactly calculates the following brake resistances during an indoor training as they appear in a real scenario:

  • air resistance
  • downhill force
  • rolling friction

The calculation, which is directly bearing on the brake torque for the setting of the load for the athlete, is carried out with precision in real time and in dependence of velocity, weight and material. The gear changing can be carried out as usual. The hardware configuration of the Cyclus2 allows the switching between the gears of a pre-set gear adjustment as well as the step-less switching for the testing of other gear ratios. This makes the ergometer available for cyclists and coaches to use for an optimal preparation for new and unknown tournament tracks. The initialization of the ergometer with the track data is fairly straight forward and can be done as follows:

  • import of previously recorded GPS cycling computer tracks (e.g. Garmin Edge)
  • import of geographical data of tours marked in cartographic programmes (e.g. TrainingPeaks) or
  • menue-driven manual input.
