Wingate Anaerobic Test

The Wingate Anaerobic Test (WAnT), commonly dubbed as Wingate Test, is one of the anaerobe test procedures in performance diagnostics. The athlete is tested for 30 seconds in dependence of the rotation speed (revs per minute) and in relation to his/her body weight. The maximum power (peak power) is reached at the achieved maximum cadence. After passing the performance peak a steady performance decrease can be verified until the end of the test. The peak power ought to be identical with the maximum alaktacide performance. The test procedure must show a dependency of the test results on the test duration and on the preset load.

The test is specifically applied in competitive sports testing anaerobe trained athletes like track cyclists, speed skaters and ice hockey players. It is furthermore used in rehabilitation to monitor the muscle growth. The Cyclus2 ergometer provides excellent functionality for carrying out the Wingate Anaerobic Test. All test parameters can be easily and user-friendly set in the configuration window for the Wingate Anaerobic Test.

The load can be defined as relative in relation to the test person’s body weight or as absolute setting of the pedal force. Diagnosticians, who are experienced with the Wingate Anaerobic Test on the Monark ergometer, can set the test parameter as kg per kg body weight, as it is common procedure with the Monark ergometer. Starting parameter is the cadence. The test person starts the test individually. The start-up cadence is approached individually and when reached accelerated at maximum. The analysis data are shown on the screen on completion of the Wingate Anaerobic Test.

The test results can be made available as print-out directly on the Cyclus 2 via the printer or alternatively by saving as a PDF file. The logo of the institution carrying out the test can be inserted on the test analysis protocol sheet in the upper right corner.
